Airside Induction Training

  1. Airport Related

The Initial Airside Induction course is mandatory for all new employees in Aviation, required, to enter the Airside of an Airport. The objective of this course is to prevent and/or reduce, all foreseeable risks of accidents and incidents. The course focuses on applicable legislation regarding Airside Regulations, Policies, Procedures and Safety Rules applicable to staff, aircraft and operations in general. Focus will also be on airport layout, airport cleanliness, the elimination of hazards, basic fire prevention and emergency responses. The Safety Enforcement System, which serves as a guideline to Airside offences and penalties for permit holders will also be dealt with.

Airside Induction Training - Refresher

The Airside Induction Refresher course is mandatory for permit holders in Aviation, that require for whatever purpose, to enter the Airside of an Airport. The permit must be refreshed every 24 months, before the expiry of such. The objective of this course is to refresh the memory of the delegate, to renew their commitment regarding safety and advise them on any rule changes, if applicable. The course content is based on the Initial Airside Induction Course.

Airside Vehicle Operator Permit

The Initial AVOP program is an essential component of Airside Safety. The program establishes the standards for drivers, operating vehicles on the Airside. An Airside Vehicle Operator's Permit (AVOP), will be issued by the Airport Authority to give the holder permission to drive a vehicle on selected areas of the Airfield. Delegates will be familiar with the AVOP driving Regulations, as set out by Airport Authority, including rules for driving on Service Roads and Aprons. Road markings, Road signs, Safe Distances, Hazards around aircraft, crossing taxiways on the Aprons and Guide man Hand signals will be incorporated into the course.

Airside Vehicle Operator Permit - Refresher

The AVOP Refresher course is mandatory for all drivers, operating vehicles on the Airside. This course must be refreshed every 24 months, before the expiry of such. The objective of the AVOP Refresher Course, is to refresh the memory of the delegate, to renew their commitment regarding safety and to be advised on any rule changes if applicable. The course contents is based on the Airside Vehicle Operator Permit (AVOP) Initial Training.

Introduction to Cargo

The introduction to basic cargo handling course serves as a bridging course for new Cargo employees before attending Cargo 1, or alternatively, to give the new Employee insight into the Basic Cargo Operations. The content includes – Basic Business Principles, Industry Organizations, Basic Geography and city codes. The delegate will also be familiarized with airport and cargo layout and facilities. Basic principles of acceptance and handling of General and Special Category Cargo will be discussed. The new employee will also be familiarized with the basic interpretation of an Airwaybills, a Warehouse checklist and the TACT Manuals.

Cargo 1

  1. Cargo Related

Cargo 1 is a course relevant to the shipment of General Export Cargo. The course consists of 2 Parts, namely a Theoretical Section and a Practical Section. The Theory Section consists of topics like Industry Organizations within the Aviation Industry, Geography, 3 letter City and Airport codes and various Geographical maps, Cargo Terminology, Aircraft types and Flight Schedules. The Practical Section will include the calculation of General Cargo Rates, the completion of Airwaybills for Minimum, Normal , Quantity and Higher Mass, Lower rate concepts The delegate will also learn the methods involved in calculating additional Airwaybills, Fuel Surcharges and Valuation charges. The Tact Manuals will be utilised during the Training.

Cargo 2

  1. Cargo Related

The Cargo 2 course is a continuation of the basic principles, learnt in Cargo 1. The course consists of 2 Parts, namely a Theoretical Section and a Practical Section. The Theory Section will deal with the handling, calculation of rates and acceptance procedures of Special Category Cargo for Export purposes. The following will be included, example - Perishable Cargo, Valuable Cargo, Human Remains, Live Animal Shipments, Baggage shipped as Cargo, Newspaper, books and Periodicals. The Practical side will include the completion of an AWB for shipments of Dangerous Goods. The IATA Tact manuals will be used during training to assist with the Rules, pertaining to the rates of Special Cargo.

Cargo 3

  1. Cargo Related

The Cargo 3 course is a continuation of Cargo 1 and 2. It is a valuable course for staff, working with Import and Export of General and Special Category of Air Cargo. The facilitation will include Charges Collect payments, Disbursement fees, Import and Forwarding Requirements, Currency conversions and published Import Rates. The Practical Section will include the calculation of General Cargo Rates and Special Category Cargo Rates and the completion of Airwaybills. The delegate will also learn the methods involved in calculating additional Airwaybills, Fuel Surcharges and Valuation charges. The learner will use the Tact Manuals to source the information.

Cargo 4

  1. Cargo Related

The Cargo 4 course is an advanced IATA rates and charges course, combining rates and charges for imports and exports with other sector rates. It will be a follow up course after Cargo 1, 2, and 3. Certain rates will be Published, certain rates will be Add – Ons and other rates need to be constructed via gateway cities, to find the cheapest possible rate. The learner will use the Tact Manuals to source the information.

Dangerous Goods And Refresher

Large quantities of dangerous goods are flown as air cargo on an ongoing basis. In this course the student is taught how to identify and classify the product that is to be shipped. The student is then taught how to pack, mark, label, and document the shipment in accordance with the IATA dangerous goods regulations. The finalized shipment is then benchmarked against the prescribed IATA checklist to ensure that everything was done and was done correctly. The shipment is then released for air transport. We cover non-radioactive and radioactive shipments.

Dangerous Goods - By Road

The Roadfreight Dangerous Goods is a 1-Day course, approved by the Department of Transport and based on SABS Standards.The purpose of this course is to equip the learner how to deal with the Loading, conveying and off-loading Hazardous Goods, as well as handle incidents in accordance with Legal Specifications and Operational Procedures. The course will cover the following information: National Road Traffic Act 93 of 1996, pertaining to the transportation of Dangerous Goods, Duties and Responsibilities of the driver, Documents to be carried by the driver and/or placed in the designated space, Nine Hazard classes and the vehicle markings.Loading and off-loading procedures for the class of substance transported. Concept of compatibility and many more

Dangerous Goods - Infectious Substances

This is a very, very important subject. A broad spectrum of infectious substances is regularly flown as air cargo. Mistakes made with infectious substances could result in millions of lives being put at risk. This course will teach you the intricacies of how to identify, classify, pack, mark, label, document, and benchmark an infectious substance shipment against a checklist.

Dangerous Goods - Lithium Batteries By Air

Lithium batteries are currently one of the largest causes of air cargo incidents and accidents. Lithium batteries are constantly being shipped as air cargo all over the globe. We have developed a system that makes the processing of lithium batteries as easy as pie. You will be taught how to determine watt-hour ratings and aggregate lithium content, as applicable, classification of these shipments, determining what section your shipment is, what type of package to be used, how to mark and label your packages and how to complete the AWB and the DGD.

Live Animal Regulations: Initial

The main objective of the 3-day course, is to familiarise the delegate on HOW to utilise the IATA LAR Manual. This will be inclusive of Government and Airline Variations, Shipper and Operator’s responsibilities, classification and specific container requirements, ground handling, and behaviour of animals under stress. The delegate will also have the knowledge regarding special shipping procedures for Endangered Species (CITES). Marking and labelling of AVI shipments as well as watering requirements and sedation of AVI will be facilitated. The delegate will learn to complete documents for AVI shipments i.e. Airwaybills, Shipper’s Declaration, CITES, Notoc and IATA checklist. Hygiene of AVI and Staff will be discussed.

Live Animal Regulations Refresher

The Initial Live Animal Regulations Course is valid for 3 years. The learner planning to attend this 1-day Refresher Course needs to have an Initial valid qualification before attempting the refresher course. The objective is to discuss general concerns and to highlight the sections on the IATA LAR manual. Documentation as per the Initial course will also be completed, with a great emphasis on Container requirements and ground handling, safety and hygiene of animals and staff.

Perishable Cargo: Initial

Aviation Security Awareness - Cargo

The Aviation Security course, based on SACAA legislation, is for any person engaged in Acceptance of Cargo, Storage & Forwarding and/or Handling of cargo, intended for carriage by air in a commercial air transport operation. We will discuss the various terrorist threats, their motives, ways and reasons for attacks. The different Aviation Security Organizations and Conventions will be facilitated. Access control, Security measures and the application thereof will be dealt with. Staff awareness, including a familiarization of how to inspect, screen and search Air Cargo. The delegates will also be briefed on Tamper Evident Packaging, how to respond to threats against Air Cargo, Suspicious Behavior, Bomb threats and Incident reports.

Aviation Security Screeners - Level 1 - Cargo: Initial

Aviation Security Manager - Level 3 - Cargo

The training program is conducted to Air Cargo Security Managers involved with managing security screening and guarding of cargo consignments at the air cargo facilities. It includes the Designated Officials who will be liaising with the SACAA on security issues at the facilities in accordance with Part 108 Civil Aviation Regulations. The Training program is conducted over a period of 5 days and includes: Threat and Risk management, Managing Security at an Air Cargo Facility, Financial Management, Human Resources and Personnel Evaluation, Recruitment, Selection, Training and Certification, Management of Material Resources in Air Cargo Environment, SOP’s for Cargo Security, Quality Control, Contingency Planning, Management response against Acts of Unlawful Interference.

Aviation Security Awareness - General

The 1-Day course, based on SACAA Part 109 legislation, is for any person working at an airport on the passenger side, i.e. Airport Police; Immigration Personnel; Aircraft operator ground staff; General aviation staff; Customs, Airport concessionaires and Tenants that need access to restricted areas. The following content will be discussed: The reality of the threat the free world faces from terrorists. Who the perpetrators of terrorism are and the motives as to why people commit terrorism. How terrorists commit terrorism and what contribution they can make towards preventing the terrorists from being successful. Apply security measures and identify the tools of terrorism and how to respond appropriately to a security related threat or emergency.

Learn To Profile People

This 1 day workshop teaches the delegate basic profiling skills to understand the psychology of people regarding the way they behave and act. The methods will be discussed to eliminate “projection barriers” around you, how to analyse a person, recognize their “baseline’ profile”, observe their behavior at random times and the brainstorming of behavioral patterns and non-patterns. The facilitation will also enhance the delegate’s knowledge of how people vocalize towards others, analyzing people’s personal space and their inappropriate actions and eye movements. The course will also deal with the detection of lying. Video scenarios will be provided.

Passenger Handling

The course has been designed for new Airline Staff as a back ground to the Airline Industry. The new delegate will learn about the Industry Organizations, flight Schedules, Terminology within the Airlines ,Geography, 3 letter city and airport codes and geographical maps. The delegate will understand the Aircraft types, baggage concepts, such as weight - and piece concepts, Carry-on baggage and allowances for passengers. Basic Fire Fighting

In this very important course, we look at what fire is, the fire triangle, the causes of fire, fire prevention, how fire spreads, the different classes of fires, fire extinguishing mechanisms (such as suffocation, cooling, and the starvation of fuel), the different fire fighting options (CO2, DCP, water, foam, chemical), the pros and cons of the different fire fighting options, which fire fighting options may be used on what classes of fires, how to use a fire extinguisher, safety while fighting a fire, maintenance of fire fighting equipment, and various other fire-related aspects. First Aid Level 1

A colleague, a loved one or a stranger collapses to the ground. What do you do? We teach delegates a step by step approach to dealing with these situations. The treatment of the patient consists of 2 phases. Phase 1 covers the treatment of the unstable patient, phase 2 covers the treatment of a stable patient. We look into consent, treatment of children versus adults, full CPR, compressions only CPR, rescue breathing, the choking victim, how to stem aggressive blood loss, splinting of fractures, activation of Emergency Medical Services and so much more.

Please note: The delegate will initially spend two days in the classroom.
